Progress on the film opening

Image
My group and I are starting to go into the pre production stage as we are gathering our actors for our film opening as well as gathering much of the resources we would like to use for our film. One of the main things we have gathered are locations for our film opening as well as some of the actors but we haven't gotten all that we need yet. The things we haven't obtained consist of mainly something to help us with our sound quality we also don't have our full script 100% finished and we don't have printed copies for our actors to begin to memorize. My group is like I said early in the stages of pre production as we have been busy focusing on our sweding project and the production of that project. We plan to make many changes to our script as well as the story and characters just a bit. We want to emphasize the characters personalities and class as well as what they might represent through mise-en-scene. We plan to do this mainly through the characters outfits and their ...

Sweding Project

Image
For my sweding project my partners and I chose to do two scenes from the movie "SuperBad" a short synopsis of this movie is " Two inseparable best friends navigate the last weeks of high school and are invited to a gigantic house party. Together with their nerdy friend, they spend a long day trying to score enough alcohol to supply the party." My group took two of the most popular scenes from the movie about the fake ID with the name McLovin. We chose these clips as they both are extremely comical and very recognizable. There was many experiences during this film one being filming at "Wings Plus" as our substitute for a convenience store, it was much easier to film there as I have connections with the owner and had previously asked for permission to film at the restaurant for the scene. Doing this got us more realism in our scene as we used and actual beer bottle for the prop as well as we had an actual employee acting in the film as the bartender. I real...

Blog About Your Media Company Research

Image
My group’s media company was Walt Disney Studios and our smaller production company was Pixar Animation studios. When it came to our media company research we split up the work between everyone and I focused on the origins of Pixar and the major films. When researching Pixar I learned about how it came to be and how it was founded. I also learned that it started as a hardware company called the graphics group, but the venture was unsuccessful so they started to create CGI animation. Pixar first started out by doing commercials for other companies but ever since their first release of a full animated film being Toy Story they focused on many different films.                                           This is a photo from an old Pixar                                          ...

Writing the Screenplay

Image
We've started writing our script and have taken a considerable turn with our vision. Our film initially was going to be an action movie but we realized we were going overboard. My partners and I discussed and decided to change the idea to a comedy film which we were more familiar with. We are happy with this change as it leads to more ideas from everyone to work on as we are not as limited with what we do. The general idea of our new film "Fools Show" is about three teenagers "Max", "Treyvon", and "Brendon" these characters all live in different t kinds of households and we want to show how their home life influence the characters in the real world. These characters are all best friends and are all obsessed with the idea of becoming famous online through doing stunts or pranks to gain their views. This idea is influenced by the"jackass" series and the film "Project X". Project X is a movie about these lame kids becoming e...

Research on Film Companies for Your Film

Image
I've researched many production companies to see which would be best for my film. Some of the ones I went through were Marvel Studios, Universal productions, and even paramount pictures but I eventually was led to and went with Warner Bros as the best fit for my film.  1. Warner Bros is a good choice for my film as they have taken many steps in entirely different directions for action movies. From superhero movies like batman to a wizarding world like Harry Potter Warner Bros has definitely done a wide variety of different types of action films so I would believe they could execute my film in great ways. When looking into other production companies one of my main choices was Marvel Studios, although most if not all of their action movies take place in the same universe they have done something that I would like to incorporate into my film, which is highly intense fights with fast choreography and I believed they would be able to do that. This clip is from Marvel Studios Shang-Chi ...

2nd Blog Post

Example 1: Kill Bill. I plan on imitating Kill Bill mainly with its combat with a katana and I'm I've wanted to do a samurai film of sorts so studying combat with a katana is beneficial to my film opening and I can use this film as a reference of sorts. Example 2: Star Wars The Revenge of the Sith. Although this movie takes place in a sci-fi fictional universe I draw inspiration from the combat within this movie but mainly from the idea of the antagonist being an old friend of the protagonist and he ends up turning on him. I won't take the exact ideas so as to not copy but the movie does supply an idea that I can use in my film opening. Example 3: Karate Kid. I draw inspiration from the Karate Kid because of the cinematography of the movie and I would like to recreate some shots especially when the main protagonist will be shown training with his master.

Introductory Blog Post

My name is Maven Lebron and for my film opening project interested in the genre of action. My relation to this genre goes to the movies that I watched growing up as a kid, I've always liked action as it's very intensive and it can be produced differently in every piece of film. Action is easily one of the most prevalent genres in our world today and for a good reason. I personally like this genre as it shows the trials someone might have to go through in a story in a story and how a character might have to get stronger to surpass their foe. The genre is also focused on many characters such as superheroes something that I personally enjoy. I think I can do a good job in this genre because I've watched many movies of this genre so I have a basic idea of what a good or bad action movie consists of, as well as I have many ideas of how to go about this film intro already.
